Putting an end to childhood cancer
Cancer is a devastating disease, especially when it affects children. Childhood cancers impact thousands of kids and their families each year. September was National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – a month to raise awareness about childhood cancers and support research to find a cure. But in order to make a difference, childhood cancer awareness needs to continue beyond the month of September.
That’s the message of a recent article in Parents called “Fighting Childhood Cancer All Year Long.” This article encourages people to get involved in pediatric cancer research and features information from the latest NPCH Report – where adults in the U.S. said childhood cancer is their number one children’s health research priority.
How can you get involved?
Advancing research into cures and treatments for childhood cancer requires advocacy and volunteers. If you’re interested in getting involved, this Parents article offers several suggestions. You can donate money to an organization that funds childhood cancer research or you can volunteer your time to host a fundraising event, interact with pediatric cancer patients at a local hospital, or contact your representatives to make sure they’re aware of your research funding priorities.
