Sports physicals: Parents share their thoughts on what should be covered

Going to the doctor may not be on the radars of all adolescents. But many middle school and high school athletes are required to have an annual sports physical – a physical exam by a doctor or other healthcare provider – to make sure they’re healthy enough to play sports.

Sports physicals are sometimes done at a doctor’s office, at school, or at an urgent care or walk-in clinic. They can cover a range of topics, from measuring blood pressure to testing for heart problems and concussions.
